Made for long days at the wheel

CarOS on iPad: the dashboard with map, now playing and trip figures on the left third, the CarApps on the right

The big screen.

On iPad, the dashboard never leaves the screen: it keeps a third for itself, your CarApps take the rest.

Turn-by-turn navigation in CarOS with a big turn card and the arrival time

Navigation that fills the screen.

Big turn cards, a clear route, and road alerts from the Waze community, said out loud.

The Dash Cam CarApp in CarOS recording the road

A dash cam on board.

Your iPhone records the road while CarOS is open. Incidents are protected automatically. (Premium)

The CarOS weekly recap: distance driven, time behind the wheel and number of trips

Your week on the road.

Every Monday, CarOS sums up how far, how long and your longest trip. The details stay on your iPhone.

Questions

Does CarOS plan routes for my vehicle’s height or weight?

No. CarOS uses Apple Maps routes for cars: it does not know your vehicle’s height, weight or length. Check your route for low bridges and restrictions before you go.

Can I use an iPad?

Yes, in landscape. The dashboard keeps a third of the screen and your CarApps take the rest. For turn-by-turn directions, an iPad needs GPS: Wi-Fi-only iPads don’t have it.

Can family follow the trip?

Yes. Live Sharing sends a link: they follow your position on a web page, without an app, while CarOS is open on screen, for up to 12 hours per link.

Does navigation work offline?

Directions need a data connection: CarOS uses Apple Maps routing. The SOS screen and its emergency numbers work without one.

Is it free?

CarOS is free to download, with no credit card and no time limit. The Dash Cam is part of Premium, by subscription or with a one-time Lifetime license.
